Marlborough College

Marlborough College is an initiative to provide additional and diverse learning experiences for all children in Key Stage 2 (7 to 11 year olds).  Staff propose courses that they would like to run and these are compiled into a College Prospectus.  Pupils select which courses they would be interested in completing and complete their application form.  The courses are divided into four faculties:

  • Media and Communication
  • Physical and Cognitive Development
  • Science and Technology
  • Creative Arts

There are approximately 25 courses on offer per academic year which range from Cooking and Mad Science to Backgammon and Gardening.  College takes place during school time on Monday afternoons and lasts for 5 or 6 weeks depending on term length.  On completion pupils are awarded a certificate of attainment which they are encouraged to add to their personal portfolios.

Marlborough College is now in it's 5th year and has become a key feature of our school curriculum.  Staff, parents, Ofsted, governors, but most importantly our pupils, have praised the initiative.  Click here to read some feedback from pupils.
