Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) of learning is for children between aged between 3 and 5 and includes Nursery and Reception Classes.
The nursery at Marlborough is called Rainbow Class and has a capacity for 78 children. The pupils attend either the morning session which runs between 0900 and 1130 or the afternoon session between 1300 and 1530.
We have three reception classes called Gold Class, Peach Class and Yellow Class. Each class has maximum of 30 children. Following the initial induction period lasting three weeks all the children attend between 0855 and 1530.
The EYFS curriculum has six areas of learning which include:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Mathematics
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Creative Development
- Physical Development
The children in the EYFS access their learning through a range of teacher-led and child-initiated activities and have opportunities to engage outdoor learning throughout the day in a well resourced and self contained play area.
