Hoax e-mail threat to schools

Response at Marlborough
As you will be aware, a number of schools received a hoax e-mail on Monday 19th March 2018 which made a specific threat if money was not paid. Although several schools in Hounslow received the message, it was not sent to Marlborough Primary. Please be aware that when we were alerted about the concern, the police indicated that the risk was low level and likely to be a hoax. We were also advised not to share information on our website at this point. Nevertheless, in accordance with the school's 'Critical Incident Policy/Emergency Plan,' we took the precaution of bringing all the children in from the playground and locking our outside classroom doors. Once the threat was confirmed to be a hoax, we provided the children in the juniors with a brief explanation, outlined the meaning of the word 'hoax' and reassured them that the likelihood of a serous event taking place is very small.
Finally, we would like to thank the staff and children for their calm and efficient response and all those parents/carers who showed patience, support and understanding.
